ECON: Econometric Stock Market Forecasting Models

 Forecast S&P 500, T Bond and T Bill interest rates, and inflation.
 Once a month you enter 8 numbers and get statistically optimized
 forecasts for 3 months, 6 months, and 12 months in the future.

 There is also an Asset Allocation routine which tells you how much
 of each asset to hold with conservative and aggressive strategies.

 The models were derived by linear regression to 25 years of market
 history 1963 to 1989.  The fit to this data is remarkable, R=.80 for
 the S&P 500 twelve-month forecast.  Putting your money into the best
 asset (stock, bond, or money market) based on Econ's forecasts would
 have given a 17% per year compounded return.  Past performance is not
 a guarantee of future results.

 The 8 numbers you enter monthly are S&P 500 close, Prime rate, T Bond
 rate, T Bill rate, CPI, Unemployment %, S&P 500 dividend %, and S&P
 500 P/E ratio.  These numbers are available in Barron's and elsewhere.

 Econ predicted all major bull and bear markets in the period  1963 to
 1993.  This includes the 1982 bull market, the crash of 1987, and the
 1991 bull market, which is outside the regression set.  It predicted 
 the drop in interest rates and inflation in 1991 to 1993 also.

 People often ask if Econ is based on technical, or on fundamental
 analysis.  It is a combination of both, based on statistical analysis.
 To enter the models, each variable had to pass an F test showing 99%
 confidence that the chosen correlation was not due to random chance.
